Pentair Filter Cartridges

One of the easiest jobs that you can do is to change your own filter cartridge on your home pool. First, you need to know when to change the cartridge and then you need to follow a few safety precautions to make sure you protect yourself and your pool. Using Pentair filter cartridges will make this an easy job and can save you hundreds of dollars. You will not have to pay a third party to perform the maintenance on your pool, because you will be able to do all of the work yourself. The first step in changing Pentair filter cartridges is knowing when they need to be changed. On the top of your water pump, a gauge tells you the pressure of the water flowing through the pipes. It is important to know the pressure of your water when the filters are clean and when they are dirty. You should check this gauge at least once a week, and when the pressure starts to increase because of clogged filters, you know that the time has come to change them out for new ones.

Once you know that your Pentair filter cartridges need to be changed, you start by turning off the breaker to the water pump. You should always shut down the breaker and unplug the pump if it is not hard wired to the electrical system. You should not just turn the pump off with the on / off switch, because you could accidently bump this switch during the maintenance process and cause injury to yourself or damage to the pool water system.Next, you would remove the lid of the filter system that holds your Pentair filter cartridges. This is done by removing the clamp holding the top attached to the base. It may be difficult to remove the top because of the pressure within the system. In that case, you want to turn the pump on and off quickly, in a one to two second burst, to increase the pressure in the bottom of the filter system. This will force the top to come lose and you can then access the filters inside. Finally, you would remove the manifold covers from the top of the

and remove the cartridges. You may want to clean the cartridges instead of purchasing new ones every time they get dirty. This can be done by spraying them with a high-pressure hose and making sure that you get all of the dirt out of the filters. You may still want to replace the filters, depending on how dirty they are or if they show any signs of tearing on the filter sides. To see a complete line of Pentair filter cartridges or to see a video on how to change your own filters, please visit Pool Guy Supply online at www.poolguysupply.com.
